In February 2015, Hugh Jackman revealed that he wanted to continue playing the Wolverine until he dies. But in March that same year he posted that he would be playing Wolverine for one last time. That would be in the new Untitled Wolverine movie set to release on March 3rd, 2017. Here’s what we know so far:
1. The story
The official story hasn’t been released yet, but the story’s writer Mark Millar has confirmed that the film will be an adaption of the Old Man Logan comic storyline. It is a complicated story to tell in just a few lines, but I’ll try anyway. It is set in a time where evil won the forever ongoing battle and that the heroes fell. Logan lives on a farm with his family and hasn’t used his claws in over fifty years. When he is in trouble for not being able to pay his rent, he gets a visit from his old friend Hawkeye and he offers him a job in which they travel across the country and meet some Marvel villains. Eventually, Logan becomes the Wolverine again after his family was brutally murdered by the Hulk Gang. However, it’s likely that Wolverine 3 will only partly be inspired by this story as Marvel Studios owns most of the characters that are included in “Old Man Logan”.

2. The Cast
Next to Hugh Jackman playing Wolverine, Patrick Stewart will also be returning for Jackman’s last adventure as Professor X. Only this time around he will be in a more prominent role than in the last two Wolverine movies: X-Men Origins: Wolverine and The Wolverine. No official word is out that Liev Schreiber will be returning as Sabretooth/Victor Creed, but it would be sensational if he did show up as some sort of surprise. More cast members are Boyd Holbrook, Richard E. Grant, Stephen Merchant, Eriq La Salle, Elise Neal and Elizabeth Rodriguez. But those have been cast in yet unspecified roles, although rumor goes that Boyd Holbrook will be the main villain.

This is it! Due to the top secrecy from the film, this is all we know about it so far. “It will take place in the future and will be an R-rated movie. It’s violent, it’s kind of like a western in its tone. It’s just a very cool, different film.” is what producer Simon Kinberg has to say about it.
The movie is set for release at March 3rd, 2017. Thanks for reading!
