Here we are again, another week has gone by in Erinsborough, and it’s another week where everyone is making the most bizarre decisions and behaving like utter lunatics. Let’s round it up.
Aaron and Rhett Clash
Rhett tells Aaron that he saw Holly kissing Andrew by the lake, and Aaron immediately shuts him down and says that can’t possibly be what he saw. As Rhett gets more and more certain that he did see what he says he did, Aaron doubts him more, even asking Holly about it and believing her over Rhett. The two of them are supposed to be telling their daughters about their relationship, but Aaron’s reluctance to trust Rhett’s word causes him to get cold feet. It takes quite a lot of grovelling from Aaron for him to relent and decide to go ahead with their announcement.
Going back to Holly, when Aaron tells her what Rhett told him, she of course denies that her and Andrew kissed, but she goes a step further than that and tells Aaron that Rhett might be lying deliberately because he’s being passive aggressive. This puts even more doubt in Aaron’s mind because of the run-in that Rhett and Andrew had previously. For Holly to deny the accusation is one thing, but to trash talk Aaron’s new boyfriend as a deliberate liar when she knows full well he’s telling the truth is absolutely out of order, but Holly seems to have fully lost her mind this week anyway.

Andrew Feels Guilty
Andrew is feeling guilty after kissing Holly, so he does the clichéd thing of buying Wendy flowers “for no reason”, and then after she tries on her hideous jewellery for him he takes her out on a date. Wendy can’t stop gushing about what a good place they’re in right now, and Andrew just looks incredibly awkward and guilty the whole time.
Also, as a note to Andrew – if your wife puts on an absolutely knockout dress on, take her somewhere a bit more exciting than the local coffee shop for dessert. Jeez.

Krista and Annaliese Team Up
After a bumpy start, Krista and Annaliese are finally starting to get along, and they team up to run the jewellery photoshoot that’s part of the whole Bronze Bell tedium. Holly ends up being the model (more on that later) and spends the day dripping in half a million dollars’ worth of jewels. Krista keeps banging on all day about how much the jewellery is worth, and yet she leaves Holly by herself to take the jewellery off and lock it in the safe. I’ll have more to say on Holly in a second, but the jewellery theft sends everyone in Lassiters into a full blown panic. The jewellery eventually turns up in a drawer downstairs. Did we ever find out who put it there? If we did I missed it, but my money is on Catrina, who is an absolute loose cannon.
With the jewellery drama over, Terese drops Paul in it and he finally comes clean to Krista and Annaliese that he’s been testing them to see who would be capable of running Lassiters if he takes a step back. They’re both furious about the deception, and Krista is doubly mad considering that she’s co-owner of the hotel, and Paul making her perform for him like a dancing monkey is deeply disrespectful. They both go off in a huff but Krista eventually accepts Paul’s apology. Annaliese, however, gives Paul a very wide berth, but I think she’ll be back again because her ex-husband Sam has been lurking in the bushes, so it would seem the writers aren’t done with her yet.

Holly Does a Holly
Back to Holly, because we must, and she is displaying some completely unhinged behaviour. She’s lying to Andrew to get him to pay attention to her, she’s cheated on Max and now she cancels the model for the photoshoot so she can step in and take her place. As if all that wasn’t mad enough, she then gets her kit off in the hotel office when Krista leaves her to put the jewellery away, and takes a load of saucy photos. Sadie sees the photos and assumes they’re for Max, as anyone would, but Holly never sends them to him, which means she’s actually considering sending them to her best friend’s dad. Which is revolting.
She’s outraged when suspicion inevitably falls on her after the jewellery goes missing but, quite honestly, I don’t think she has the right to be that offended with the way she’s been acting lately. I wouldn’t put jewel theft past her right now.
Things Get Worse For Remi and Cara
Cara keeps trying to help Remi but seems to get it wrong every time. This time she goes to the hospital to try to persuade them to let Remi come back to work, after they tell her they’re not clearing her to come back. When Remi finds out, she’s livid, because to her Cara is a stranger who simply won’t stop interfering in her life. I know she was trying to help, but I really don’t know what Cara thought she could say that Remi wouldn’t have said for herself.
When JJ and Dex get into a nasty argument in the garden, Remi and Cara both step in to diffuse it, but end up getting into an argument themselves. Things with the Varga-Murphys seem to have hit rock bottom.

Nell Confuses JJ
Admittedly it isn’t difficult to confuse JJ, but he never stands a chance of figuring out what’s going on with Nell. She’s obviously having some pretty big feelings about the seriousness of her relationship with JJ. They’re of an age where sex is on the horizon and she’s clearly feeling uncomfortable about it. The trouble is, JJ is blissfully unaware of this, so he’s just going about his business as usual, not understanding that everything he does is being overanalysed by his overwrought girlfriend.
He plans a cute movie night for her and Nell thinks he’s just doing it to move things along, leaving JJ a bewildered, spluttering mess when she declares that it’s all too much and runs off home. Poor Nell. She needs a grown-up, preferably a woman, to talk to about all this, and Terese has been too preoccupied with Paul and Power Road and Eirini Rising and everything else. Who else could Nell confide in? Wendy would be too embarrassingly keen to discuss it, Nicolette would give the worst advice ever, and Cara and Remi have got too much going on. Susan would be a good sounding board, but Nell might prefer someone closer to her age. Maybe Sadie? DEFINITELY NOT HOLLY. Absolutely not her.

A Few Random Notes
As usual, here are a few random notes I took while watching Neighbours this week:
- Not sure I’d go for love advice from the woman who’s forgotten her whole-ass wife, Holly.
- Paul: “I’ve bought a few engagement rings.”
- Why is everyone acting like they’ve never walked past a jewellery shop window before?
- Again with the massive lapels on Annaliese’s dress.
- Is Holly unwell?!
- Nicolette making a joke about having been to Canberra 😂
