It’s been almost 10 years since Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde first zoomed into our lives in the film Zootopia, and Disney just dropped the official teaser trailer for Zootopia 2—and let me tell you, it did not disappoint.
Set to release on November 26, 2025, the sequel looks like it will be taking us right back into the heart of the city, but this time with even more to explore. From what the trailer shows, we’re getting all-new zones and new characters (hello, Gary) and returning favorites, plus that signature blend of sharp animation, clever writing, and heart.
Fans (myself included) have been waiting forever for this follow-up, and the energy online after the trailer dropped proves it was worth the wait. The hype is very real and I’m already planning to rewatch the first one before Zootopia 2 is released.
Judy and Nick Are Back—But Things Feel Different
The trailer itself opens with something totally unexpected: Judy and Nick… but in couples therapy for work partners? Yep, our favorite bunny and fox are sitting across from a tiny therapist (voiced by Quinta Brunson) who reads them hard. We get a little foot-tapping, some emotional tension, and that classic back-and-forth that made us fall in love with their dynamic in the first place.
From what we know so far, they’re still partners on the force, but something’s testing their bond. And honestly? I love that we’re seeing them a little more worn in this time around.
Say Hello to the New Crew
One of the biggest reveals from the trailer is the introduction of Gary De’Snake, voiced by Ke Huy Quan. He’s the first reptile we’ve ever seen in Zootopia, and even though we don’t get a ton of details, his presence clearly shakes things up and is cause for investigation. I mean, Nick even jokes that “no snake has set foot in Zootopia in forever”—but maybe that’s just because snakes do not have any feet.
Also joining the cast:
- Fortune Feimster as Nibbles, a beaver
- Jean Reno as a new goat officer
- Quinta Brunson (again, she’s hilarious) as Dr. Fuzzby
- And of course, Shakira is back as Gazelle—with a brand-new outfit and an original song co-written with Ed Sheeran, so cue the radio takeover now.
It’s a stacked cast with some seriously fun energy, and truthfully, I’m just excited to see how they all fit into the world of Zootopia.
New Zones, New Vibes
Visually speaking, the trailer is a full-on treat. We get a glimpse of a frozen tundra and rocky cliffs. The environments are a lot more textured and stylized than the first film, and they hint that this sequel is going to take us deeper into the city than we have ever been before.
I also have to say—the animation is just stunning. Characters feel smoother, the lighting is gorgeous, and the character expressions? Chef’s kiss. Disney is clearly not cutting corners on this one.
The Buzz Is Real
The trailer was released on July 30 and it immediately had social media losing it. Zootopia fans were posting reaction videos, pausing frame-by-frame for Easter eggs, and getting hyped about seeing familiar faces like Bellwether (in a prison jumpsuit, of course), Mr. Big, Clawhauser, and Yax. People are already making memes out of Dr. Fuzzby’s therapy session, which is absolutely hilarious.
After the Zootopia+ spinoff on Disney+ gave us just a small taste of the Zootopia universe again (without Judy or Nick), this trailer feels like a full return—and it is clear that fans have missed these characters. A lot. November 26 cannot come fast enough!
