The hunter is back and has his eyes on deadly prey.  After the success of Prey, it was inevitable that the Predator would return.  Predator is a franchise that tends to linger around because the Predator is just so damn cool.  His look is iconic.  His motivation is simple but effective.  His weapons are cool just as much as they are intimidating.  And his clicking gets the heart racing.  Prey saw the alien come back to Earth to hunt and fight the Comanche tribe.  Warrior against warrior.  Fans and movie watchers loved the film.  It got another wave of interest for the character and set the path for his legacy to continue.  What the movie accomplished as well was it made it captivating to watch the Predator face off with other warriors set in the past.  That was an element that got fans really excited.  So excited, that fans wanted to see the Predator face off with other warriors across other periods of time.  This summer, fans will see him in an animated movie premiering on Hulu which has him hunting fighters in different eras and regions.  Perfect to expand the lore of the Predators.

One group of warriors that the Predator will be hunting are the Vikings.  The Vikings were a pack of warriors that are known to crave blood.  They raided villages either by foot or by the sea.  Their own myths and lore guided their warpath.  But they were also sophisticated.  Craftsmen and poets as much as they were warriors.  But given their dominance on the battlefield, that gives a Predator the interest, the intuitive to hunt them.  The Vikings are fierce warriors, a perfect counter the ferocity that a Predator brings to the fight.

Another group of fighters the Predator will come across are U.S. pilots during WWII.  This is the most modern time that the film will place Predator.  But the biggest selling point about this clash, is that it looks like it’ll be inspired by the aerial dogfights during WWII. The Predator ships have been in films before but haven’t really had a huge or cinematic moment.  This will be the first time that a Predator ship will have an action scene.  And since the Predators love to collect trophies, some interesting and creative weapons have been pulled from their arsenal to make harvesting their prey from the air, much easier.  This story will also provide a new look for the Predator which will have the Predator lacking the famous dreadlocks.  This piece of the movie will provide so many new features to the lore of the Predator.

And one group of warriors that the Predator will go up against, is one that fans have been clamoring for.  Predator will finally face off with Samurai.  This is perhaps the most logical group of warriors for any Predator to fight against.  On paper, of course, it makes little sense.  But fundamentally, both sides are similar.  Both sides are not shy to spill blood.  Lots of it.  Both are trained to near perfection to harness their senses, skills, weapons and war tactics.  And use them to great effect and adapt to their situations.  At the same time, both are highly honorable.  Strict traditions keep them on a clear path.  They have culture and follow codes.  And breaking them leads to dire consequences.  So, seeing Samurai and Predators going head-to-head will be a great match up to witness due to their similarities.  A fight that has finally come.

This also puts Predator into the animated world.  Movies and video games have told the stories of the Predator species for a few decades now but their story will now be told in the animated form.  Having the leeway that animation could allow opens up for more action, bloodier and intense action.  Expect the Predator to get more creative with his hunting methods, takedowns and how he uses his weapons.  The animated form could show Predator more agile, quicker and lots more aggressive.

And seeing the Predator species across different time periods that drastically jump from one another, audiences will see the Predator evolve.  What Prey did masterfully is keep the traditional Predator weaponry and tools but make seem like it was primitive.  In the film, the Feral Predator had very early iterations of currently know Predator weapons.  Instead of having a singular wrist computer detonating a large nuclear-sized explosion, it was three discs that create a much smaller but still a devastating explosion.  Seeing Predator in the Viking, Samurai and World War II era will obviously display weapons and tools that are old but still serve as the an older version of current weapons.  And of course, a Predator doesn’t go on the hunt with every weapon, so expect to see fresh weapons.

Predator is getting a resurgence of content right now.  Prey opened the doors and due to the success, it left fans wanting more.  Predator: Killer of Killers is the next in line followed by Predator: Badlands.  But Predator: Killer of Killers will be the first that fans could sit down and enjoy.  Watch their favorite alien hunter take down prey that could match his ferocity.  And more importantly, give more light to the species.
