When I sit down and play a cozy title, there are a few elements I enjoy the most. These are typically things like cooking, farming or building cute homes. Except for roofs, I have never made a great roof. Aside from my lack of roofing experience, I am set if a title has one of these activities. I would also appreciate it if I could play with my spouse; however, that is more of a bonus rather than a requirement. Therefore, when I found a game that ticked boxes off my cozy criteria, I knew I had to share it with all of you. So, without further ado, let’s talk about Ale & Tale Tavern.

Ale & Tale Tavern‘s Story

In Ale & Tale Tavern, players step into a fantasy realm and are immediately land owners. Players take on the role of the owner of an abandoned tavern. Should you choose to accept it, your quest is to restore the building to its former glory. Players will need to create drinks and tasty meals to keep customers happy. Therefore, you must hunt, farm, and fish for ingredients. You can explore the open world and complete quests when you need a day off. There is truly something to do for everyone in this game.

Thoughts on Ale & Tale Tavern

Lately, it has been hard for me to find the time to play a video game. Life has gotten in the way of fun. However, during Steam’s last sale, I downloaded a few demos and wishlisted a couple of games. I completely forgot about it until I sat down to write this article. Ale & Tale Tavern’s demo drew me in like a moth to a flame, and I honestly cannot remember the last time I had this much fun playing a game.

I went into this title blind. Honestly, if a game has a cool premise and interesting graphics, I am more than likely to try it out. Ale & Tale Tavern starts like a typical video game; you must complete the tutorial, which was a bit jarring at first. I was not expecting the full voice acting not only from the NPC but also from my character. It was a pleasant surprise but not something I expected.

As I continued the demo, I cleaned up my tavern and bought supplies. Thirty minutes had gone by, and I hadn’t even noticed. The mechanics work well in this game. The simplicity makes it cozy, and any skill-level gamer could figure out their way in this world. It was a relaxing experience and would be fun to play with friends. Overall, I recommend this game and look forward to playing the full version.

Odds & Ends

Ale & Tale Tavern is currently available on Steam. A demo is also available if you want to try it out before buying it. Are you simply in a tavern mood? Want to continue reading about roleplaying as a barkeep? I would also recommend reading this article on Tavern Talk. Ultimately, both titles are fantastic, and I hope you will give them a shot.
