Have you heard of the game Cult of the Lamb? It’s about the last living lamb getting resurrected by a chained god who promises him life and power in exchange for creating a cult in his name—the mechanics of the game work as partially a farming sim and a dungeon grind.

Since Cult of the Lamb’s release, there have been numerous updates with exciting features such as Sins of the Flesh aka the notorious sex update where the Lamb can assign followers to a mating tent to produce a mysterious egg, perform the Rite of Lust where followers frolic around naked, and other sin based activities.

Another update is on the way where the Lamb has a new friend to work alongside them in the cult.

On June 7th of this year, players of Cult of the Lamb were treated with a cinematic trailer titled Unholy Alliance.

In this teaser, we see the Lamb in a treacherous battle against a heretic of the Old Faith. The Lamb ducks for cover behind a rock catching their breath, only to notice a mysterious pool lays in front of them. A trickle of blood falls into the pool unleashing some sort of portal where someone seizes the Lamb, dragging them to the other side.

Lo and behold, we are introduced to the Goat who springs into action on the Lamb’s behalf. The banner “local co-op is here” appears! This goat character is the new addition to the multiplayer mode that Cult of the Lamb has introduced. It can inferred that this mode also has special additions to the structures built for Sins of the Flesh as well as other co-op-based activities.

Yet the fans have questions. Who is this Goat? Where did he come from? Will he have any special abilities? Some of these questions were answered in a video from the @cultofthelambofficial Instagram.

Here is an overview of the questions and answers in the video:

  1. What is the name of the Goat? It’s the Goat! It’s the same as the Lamb is The Lamb.
  2. Who is the Goat? The Goat is a dark reflection of the Lamb. The same and yet not. We do not know the realm which the Goat comes from.
  3. Are the Lamb and the Goat blood-related? No they are not.
  4. Can you play the Goat in single player? Yes you can.

I’m very excited to learn more about the Goat and see the stroy unfold between them and the Lamb. There has been numerous fan art an all of them have been wonderful interpretations of their dynamic. I plan to play the update when it releases August 12th.

Stay tuned for the update and my journey in exploring it!
