With the Mid-Season International (MSI) over with Gen.G from Korea the victors, big changes from patch 14.10 have hit Summoner’s Rift for the summer for all players to explore and enjoy. Between new items and the removal of multiple fan-favorite runes, there is a lot to go over in patch 14.10 so let’s jump into it.
Starting off with the new items, the Blackfire Torch and the new item component Fate Ashes that builds into it seems to be the most powerful. Blackfire Torch is the newest mana item for mages that nearly every mage in the game seems to be building. It has two affects; one adds a burn to all abilities and the second increasing overall ability power temporarily for each enemy affected with the burn. Fated Ashes just applies the burn and has no second affect.
Another new item is the Symbiotic Soles which is replacing the Boots of Mobility that are no longer in the game. These new boots give the user an empowered (faster) recall, similar to what the Baron buff gives a team, but all the time. Once the user walks 150K units, the Symbiotic Soles get upgraded to the Synchronized Souls which also grants out of combat movement speed just like the old Boots of Mobility did.
Lastly for the items, Attack Damage Carry (ADC) items got a slew of additions and changes. One is the Navori Flickerblade which is replacing the Navori Quickblade. The item is basically the same as before but with a different name. A new item component is the Scout’s Slingshot, which gives attack speed and empowers an auto-attack every several seconds; this item component is used to build into nearly every zeal item. A new item that is returning is the Zephyr; it is new take on an old item specifically designed for the late game of the ADC role. The Zephyr is built from the Berserker’s Greaves plus 2000 gold and can only be built after the buyer reaches level 15 or above. Finally, a completely new item is the Yun Tal Wildarrows, giving a bleed affect on-hit to the ADC for the first time in a long time.
Moving onto Rune trees, the Domination (red), Inspiration (light blue), and Precision (yellow) runes were hit the hardest. Predator, a capstone rune from the red tree, has been completely removed from the game. Also in the red tree, Hail of Blades was nerfed for ranged characters; Ingenious Hunter was removed from the bottom rung of the tree; and Sudden Impact and Relentless Hunter were both nerfed.
In the light blue tree, the rune Future’s market was replaced with Cash Back, which refunds 6% of gold when a legendary item is purchased. Minion Dematerializer was replaced with Jack of All trades, which gives buffs for each unique stat on all items purchased. The capstone rune First Strike and basic rune Time Warp Tonic were also buffed.
Finally for runes, the yellow tree’s capstone rune Lethal Tempo was removed – this was a fan favorite, so it is sad to see it go. However, Press the Attack was buffed so it acts as a good replacement for Lethal Tempo. Other changes include Overheal being replaced with Absorb life, which give a bit of health for each target killed (i.e. minions, champions, monsters). Legend: Tenacity was replaced with Legend: Haste, which now gives stacking ability haste instead of tenacity. Lastly, Cut Down and Fleet Footwork were both changed but remain basically the same.
There were also several nerfs and buffs to champions, nerfs and buffs to items that were not mentioned above, and changes to summoner spells. Check out the official patch notes to see those. Surprisingly, there was no new champion like there usually is with one of these big patches. Despite that though, this patch does bring a lot of need changes to the game in terms of balancing and offers new variety of changes to mix up the feel of the game for the summer.
