Crossovers are dope! Crossovers are fun! Crossovers are much more than the Avengers teaming up with the X-Men or the Justice League working alongside the Teen Titans. Those are not crossovers!!! They exist in the same universe. True crossovers are the Predator fighting Wolverine or Batman.  Invincible stumbling into the Avengers. Batman and Spawn teaming up to stop the Court of Owls. Or the monstrous crossover between the Justice League, Godzilla, and Kong. Or the Jimmy/Timmy Power Hour parts one, two, and three.  Those are crossovers with some chest hair! The better the franchises, the more known the franchises are making for unique and fun crossovers. Of course, the biggest one that still sparks fans’ imaginations and triggers desires are Marvel and DC. That has happened before. Yet, maybe there should be another player in this game because the same company does own Marvel and…Star Wars. A crossover between Marvel and Star Wars does make sense, and perhaps easy, because the House of Mouse owns both franchises. But DC still has some power to make their claim to have a crossover with a galaxy far away. So which comic book universe will be the most fun, most unique, and downright coolest to have shared space with Star Wars?

So yes, a Marvel/Star Wars crossover does seem to be straightforward. It’s similar to why Mortal Kombat had a game with DC a few years back because Warner Bros. owns both IPs. Disney owns both. When there is a Star Wars comic book ready to come out, Marvel publishes and distributes it. So, the connection is there. But that leap hasn’t been made. There are tons of plotlines and scenarios that could play out that will be on an epic scale. Fans could see a very unique fight between The Hulk and Yoda, a fight between green. One character who is towering, built like a monster, rageful, and all about brute force. The other relies on wisdom, calculation, quickness, precision, and one of the coolest and most iconic weapons in storytelling. Styles make fights. Tony Stark could upgrade the ships, the equipment, and everything in between for the Resistance since much of their equipment is scavenged and pieced together. Plus, a conversation between Stark and Solo will be legendary. Beskar could compete with Vibranium to be the most desirable metal in the universe. And that could open up an interesting question; could a Lightsaber cut through Vibranium? A fight between Darth Maul and Deadpool could be brutal, funny, and stylistic. Or Darth Maul vs Carnage. Venom-ized Storm Troopers could give a power boost to the Empire. Marvel has a large group of cosmic characters that could make this plausible. Thanos could open a rift by using the Infinity stones too much. The Celestials might be too power-hungry to create more space in space and that opens a pathway to the Star Wars universe. One of the Watchers might want to watch more universes and that leads them to see the Empire closing in on Kamino. There are forbidden places in the Galaxy far away which could be that gateway that guides them to Ego. The Guardians of the Galaxy will be helpful to Ezra and his gang. It’s only a dream that exists only in imagination but both Star Wars and Marvel have great foundations for a crossover to stand on.

DC has its fair share of cosmic presence as well. Perhaps THE superhero of all time has origins beyond Earth and frequently travels toward the stars. Superman has been the embodiment of hope, peace incarnate. He is the hero that other heroes rely on. At the same time, he is the character that villains want on their side as well. In an ever-expanding war that stretches across a galaxy, the resistance/Jedi could seek out his help at the same time the Empire/Sith wanted him. The Emperor or Darth Vader could see the potential in Superman to make him an evil apprentice. But Superman could be a one-man fleet to destroy the Death Star. A fight between Batman and Jango Fett, Boba Fett, or any other Mandalorian since both are warriors, follow strict codes when fighting and use a variety of high-tech weaponry. With that same reasoning, Deathstroke could also be a unique match-up for a Mandalorian. A match between equals so to speak.  Plus, Batman with a lightsaber is a dream come true. Which brings up some questions in this crossover; could a lightsaber hurt Superman? Can the Force be stronger than Superman? And The Joker with a lightsaber, or lightsabers, would give his character that much more mayhem to play with. Wonder Woman and Leia would be a dream team of strategists of war. Cyborg could give a boost to droids and vehicles. Since the Lanterns and Thanagarians are space corps that defend the peace in the universe, they could help the Jedi since all three groups have aligned goals.  And with the inclusion of every Lantern Corp, it leaves it up to the imagination of which character will get which ring.  Luke will be a Blue Lantern because he is the new hope. Or perhaps a green ring. Some Sith will obviously get red or orange. And Darth Vader could do a number of them at different times. Mongul, with a mind always bent on conquering, could rage war on the Empire since they are taking the territory he already has or territory he wants. But perhaps the two biggest contributors to his DC and Star Wars universe are Brainiac and Darkseid.  Brainiac is a collector, someone who wants the best, rarest items in the galaxy. There are plenty of things to collect in the Star Wars universe, ancient scrolls of the Jedi or kyber crystals are premium. So is Beskar. If he is willing to collect planets and capital cities on planets, there are plenty to choose from in the Star Wars universe. A collision between the Death Star/Star destroyers and Brainiac’s ship will be true cinema played out in panels.  With Darkseid, he himself would be a factor but so will be the mother boxes and the anti-life formula. mother boxes could be a weapon, a resource that the Empire finds all too tempting.  They would send out armies to claim them. And since the anti-life formula forces all life in the multiverse to bend to its will, the chase between the Empire and Darkseid, to get it would be a war on a grand epic scale. That could be the center of how this crossover started, parademons vs stormtroopers. But more importantly, Darth Vader vs Darkseid! Evil against evil. Power vs power. A battle that could destroy planets. Needless to say, DC meeting up with Star Wars would be cataclysmic.

Each universe has plenty to offer the other. Factors that would give each other a boost. There are overlapping elements from each universe than one might think and that adds to the allure of these crossovers. On paper, a Marvel/Star Wars crossover makes more sense, and more plausible since both are owned by the same company. But they still have aspects that would make for a great story. A DC/Star Wars crossover is a bit more impossible despite the epic clashes that could be in store for the merge. Regardless, both comic book universes will be a dream match-up for Star Wars.  None of the comic universes lack possibilities that could hinder Star Wars. There are plenty of factors that Star Wars could play off of. No matter which way Star Wars goes, the universe wins, and the crossover wins. More importantly, fans will win. The galaxy far, far away has plenty of room for heroics and villainy.
