Invincible Season 2 Part 2 Trailer Breakdown
Poor Mark; all he wanted to do was be a superhero like his Dad. Then he found out his Dad was a killer who left him and his mom. His Dad had another kid and became ruler of a planet of alien pray-mantises. Then, he got captured by his people while leaving said planet in ruins. And all that happened in the last few episodes of Invincible, no less!
It’s only going to get crazier for Mark from here on out. After going on break for the winter, Invincible is back for the second half of its second season for the spring.
Chaos Reigns

So, after dealing with the sight of his estranged father getting beaten and captured by his fellow Viltrumites in front of him, Mark has to figure out where to go from here. All Omni-Man told him to do was to read his books and look after his infant half-brother. That fact alone is already looking to be a problem for him and his mom. The kind of thing that both will need a reasonable amount of time to adjust to. That’s not a luxury that they have.
As the new trailer reveals, chaos continues to plague the heroes of Earth. First, the Guardians of the Globe are shown fighting a giant calling itself Omnipotus and the likes of the Lizard League. Then we see the Sequids, squid-like parasites that attacked Mars, get their hands on Atom Eve and Robot, which is terrible news. Blood flows, bodies get dismembered, and carnage ensues for everyone present. However, Mark’s biggest threat isn’t even the Viltrumites, but one of his own making.

Angstrom is Mad! Omni-Man is in Prison

After the disastrous results of his experiment fused him with all his counterparts in the multiverse, Angstrom Levy had one thing on his mind: revenge against Invincible. Both because his interference led to his current state, and his mind is clouded by the hatred some of his counterparts have for their world’s versions of Invincible. People who read the comics will know what’s coming, but the trailer hints at how bad things will get. Mark’s seen being thrown across the multiverse as Angstrom toys with him and running rings around him. And since Angstrom’s condition was technically Mark’s fault, he will likely not listen to reason. Mark will get hurt if things follow the route the comics take. Badly.
Meanwhile, things need to be improving for Mark’s father, Omni-Man. Having been taken prisoner by his fellow Viltrumites, Nolan is subjected to beating after beating from his former comrades. They only want to know why he would decide to turn his back on his mission. What about Earth could make him want to spare it? The trailer never has Nolan say anything, but they would need help understanding even if he did. They must experience Earth for them to know why he changed his mind.
At Least Allen is Okay

Besides the carnage it displays, the one thing on the plus side of this trailer is showing Allen’s fate. When we last saw him, Allen had his life support turned off by Thaedus, the resistance leader against the Viltrumites. Many thought this would mean that Allen might not survive, unlike in the comics. However, a few seconds of the trailer show Allen fighting the Immortal, showing he’s alive and well. So, Allen/Seth Rogen fans can rest easy. The one-eyed wonder is safe!
Invincible got a lot of flak on social media for going on hiatus four episodes into its new season. Then it got even more flak when its return date was pushed back to Spring 2024. Given everything shown in the trailer, the second half of the season will make everything worth the wait.
I’m looking forward to it, and I know plenty of others are looking forward to it. The only problem is that only four episodes are left, and based on the trailer, they’ll cover a lot. Fingers crossed that Amazon Prime does everything right.
