Music can make a great game iconic. Raphael’s Final Act in Baldur’s Gate III gives me chills every time I hear it. I am also not ashamed to admit that my ringtone is a song from Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life. Music and video games go hand in hand; however, I rarely play a game where it is one of the selling points. Therefore, today, it is imperative that we discuss The Axis Unseen.

The Axis Unseen‘s Story

The developer, Just Purkey Games, describes The Axis Unseen as a heavy-metal horror game. This title places players in a vast open world with nothing more than a bow. Players must use all their senses to hunt and destroy monsters from ancient folklore. After taking down these beings, players will collect their power and discover elemental arrows. However, there is a dark warning to all players. You are not just the hunter but also the hunted.

Thoughts on The Axis Unseen

When I first saw The Axis Unseen, the graphics immediately drew me in. This breathtaking title makes me want to jump into this world head first. As I watched the trailer, I paused to stare at the stills, checking out the lighting and movement. It looks flawless. The trees are gorgeous, and the enemies are imposing; everything about this game feels right.

Secondly, we need to talk about the music. When I play a game like Valheim, I appreciate the peaceful sounds of the meadows. However, the music shared for this game thus far has me pumped to be badass. I am down to run around this world, armed with only a bow and this soundtrack. I can envision purchasing the soundtrack as a standalone option if it becomes available.

Finally, this game just sounds fun. We rarely focus on the fun factor of a game. The idea that a werewolf can smell my scent based on the wind gets my gears going. Then, I can upgrade my senses to be even more badass as I walk around this dangerous world. Sign me up. Ultimately, I look forward to more news about The Axis Unseen.

Odds & Ends

This title is currently in development, with a hopeful PC release in 2024. Players can learn more about it on Steam and the Epic Games Store. If you want another survival game to get excited about, I highly recommend the article on Enshrouded.
