Are you a fan of the Care Bears? Well, Carin Vrolijk certainly is! Her love for these adorable multi-colored bears inspired her to create a Care Bear-themed nursery for her child. We were lucky enough to be part of her journey, as she reached out to us last year with a special request.
Carin, a dedicated fan of the Care Bears since she was 6 years old, wanted to incorporate an original image from our CareBears article as wallpaper for her nursery. Although the image wasn’t suitable for that purpose, her enthusiasm and passion for the Care Bears never wavered.
Fast forward to last month, Carin got in touch with us again to share the amazing progress she has made with the nursery. She said, “Since I was 6 years old, I have been a BIG fan of the Care Bears. So much so, that the theme of the Nursery is Care Bears. I would love for my Little One to have the same adoration for them!”

For those who may not be familiar, the Care Bears originated as colorful bears created by artist Elena Kucharik in 1981 for use on greeting cards from American Greetings. These lovable characters soon became popular plush teddy bears and starred in various films and TV series, including “The Care Bears in the Land Without Feelings” (1983), “The Care Bears Battle the Freeze Machine” (1984), and their own television series called “Care Bears” from 1985 to 1988. Each Care Bear has a unique color or shade and a special image on its stomach, often referred to as a “belly badge” or “tummy symbol,” that represents its personality.
At The Game of Nerds, we are always excited to see unique and cool nerdy nurseries. Carin’s Care Bear-themed nursery is a true testament to her love for these beloved characters. If you have a nerdy nursery of your own to share, we would love to hear from you!
