Let me Say in Advance, we’ve had a lot of great game robots over the years. Dog, R.O.B, Clank, ( and pretty much anyone from the Portal series) and so on. However, there’s something about this little steward bot that brings him one cut above the rest of our machine friends.
If you’ve never played any of the Borderlands games, then some background knowledge is required. Claptrap is a CL4P-TP steward bot, however his entire production line was destroyed under the orders of the antagonist, Handsome Jack. That leaves just one single Claptrap left, which is all you need to appreciate what a fun character he is.
His Personality:
Claptrap is one of the most cheerful characters you will meet on your journey throughout the games, so he always sounds a little eccentric (that’s literally his default tone of voice) , and he always manages to make situations seem more fun. I believe the most notable thing about Claptrap is how annoying he is. Or at least supposed to be. His programming leads to him talking on and on and on, but every time, I listen to him until the end, for my own amusement. Claptrap is the funniest game robot to me, due to his overall uselessness when it comes to any simple job and his response to it afterwards.
Claptrap: “Well, it was nice knowing ya! I hear getting eaten alive by Bullymongs isn’t such a bad way to go” (After Claptrap fails to open the Hyperion Barge Door)
Fun to play as:
You can actually play as a Claptrap in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, and after playing as all of the vault hunters, he may not be the most powerful, but easily the most fun. Claptrap’s action skill is random. It can be anything from shooting lasers to bouncing on a rubber ducky. Plus, since you’re playing as a robot in Space, you don’t need oxygen! I also loved the different skins you can make your Claptrap look like, so if you haven’t seen them yet, check it out now!
Claptrap is an annoying, border-line useless, bizarre, non-humanoid robot, but somehow became one of the most beloved characters in the entire franchise. Always root for the underdog. Always.
It’s wonderful to be here with everyone; you all have generously provided so much information, and I really appreciate it.
I accessed your page via an unconventional internet search. This essay is of exceptional quality.
Your positivity and enthusiasm are truly inspiring.
I completely agree! Playing as Claptrap in The Pre-Sequel was such a unique experience. His random action skill kept things interesting, and I loved customizing his look with different skins. It’s amazing how a quirky character can become so endearing despite – or maybe because of – his annoyances. Definitely one of my favorites!
Claptrap’s ridiculousness is definitely part of his charm! I remember trying him out in Pre-Sequel and being totally surprised by how much I enjoyed the unpredictable action skill. Sometimes it was a total disaster, other times pure genius! Speaking of quick reactions, anyone else curious about how fast their click speed actually is after all that frantic button mashing as Claptrap? I stumbled across this fun CPS test platform recently, might be worth checking out!
