With the release of Serpentine, the latest installment of the Anita Blake series to be released August 7th 2018, I wanted to be sure we are up to date on the whole series. If you haven’t read the prior books in the series and hate spoilers, turn back now. I wouldn’t want to ruin the fun for you.
It is well known to Anita that vampires “die” during sunlight hours and “live” during night hours. Powerful master vamps have the ability to “go to sleep” and “wake up” earlier than other run of the mill or young vampires. Jean-Claude is a master vampire and can stay up about a half an hour to an hour past true dawn but cannot face the sun unscathed. Damian however is different; he is a daywalker…
Anita Blake is a name to be feared. She can scare human, vampire and lycanthrope alike. She is called the Executioner and is also call War as in one of the four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. So who scares Anita?
Anita knows monsters but zombies are her area of expertise as she has been raising them most of her life. As a general rule zombies don’t attack unless they are murder victims. Also, being a zombie isn’t contagious like vampirism and lycanthropy so this shouldn’t be happening.
Vampires. What can I say? They are mysterious, sexy, ageless and fascinating. The most popular vampire is probably Dracula. There are many mythoi about vampires from all over the world. Many different cultures have their own version of them. Movies has been telling stories of them for almost a hundred years starting with Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens (Nosferatu A Symphony of Horror) in 1922.
When Mommy Dearest separates Anita she forces Anita to drop her psychic shields. Mommy Dearest is unprepared for what Anita shows her.
The showdown between the shadowhunters and Lilith begins. Will it end in a Ressurection or more death?
