My very first “fandom” was magickal. I have always loved magick, myth, unicorns, dragons, and fairies. Oh my. You get the idea. Hence the reason I so often cover movies, books, and shows that deal with those subjects. The unfortunate part is that many of them are geared toward young people. While I am not old, I am not in my 20s either.
Today we are talking about Fate: The Winx Saga. There was a cartoon called Winx Club (2004). I didn’t watch it, and it didn’t capture my two daughter’s attention, so I never watched it. I tell you this to say to you I know nothing about the characters, so I am watching this with no expectations.

Bloom (Abigail Cowen) was raised on Earth, but after she starts a fire that burns her mother, Bloom is sent to a school in the Otherworld. Her parents think she is in the Alps in Switzerland. Bloom has no idea how to call or use her magick, so she is being taught at this school. I believe this school is kind of like a high school, though it could be a college. They stay in dorms and have roommates. Bloom shares a room with Terra (Eliot Salt), Musa (Elisha Applebaum), Aisha (Precious Mustapha), and Princess Stella (Hannah van der Westhuysen). I think they are still trying to feel each other out. Bloom’s guy interest right now is Sky (Freddie Thorp).
Bloom finding out that she is a changeling has her in a spin. So, of course, there is drama. The headmistress, Ms. Dowling (Eve Best), knows much of what is going on but isn’t sharing much with us. Beatrix (Sadie Soverall) is trying to find Ms. Dowling’s secrets, but we don’t know why with that either.

Fate can be found on Netflix and has two seasons. Season one is six episodes long and season two is seven. However, the newest season came out this year, so I think there is hope for a season three. The sets are beautiful. I really like Dowling’s office. I can see myself there working. Or hiding. The training field is excellent too. The dorm room the girls stay in looks cozy, and you can see a bit of everyone in it.
This one is still kind of young, but it is interesting. Well, when Netflix isn’t giving me a hard time anyway. I think I will keep watching it. It is exciting, and I want to know what happens next. I just got to the part where Bloom is looking for pictures to see if she can find the fairy who left her in the human world. Unfortunately, I got tired of restarting Netflix to watch. Needless to say, I do recommend this one.
Have you watched Fate? What did you think? Let me know in the comments below. Until next time, have fun storming the castle!
