Okay, okay. I know I am super late to this show, and The Game of Nerds has covered every episode of this show. But before we get further, however, if you missed my last article on Mortal Kombat Legacy, click the link. Back to my experience with Game of Thrones, I saw one particular scene from the first episode and shut it off. Now, I decided to give it another try. So, I watched the first three episodes, and here are my thoughts on them.
Game of Thrones is so prevalent in our culture that I have heard loads about it. I obviously don’t know everything about it but I do know some characters persist through the series. That idea gives me some comfort, especially for Daenerys (played by Emilia Clarke). I despise the way her brother treats her in all this. Also, I don’t particularly appreciate how Jon Snow (played by Kit Harington) is less than in this show.
I must say, I do love how well they show the different cultures. They are very different, and it is noticeable. The Lannisters’ and Stark’s cultures are very much how I picture Europe back in the day. But even that differs a little where the Starks reside as opposed where the king lives. The Dothraki are so very different from them. Jason Mamoa looks so good playing Khal Drogo. I am not very sure about the culture the Targaryens come from. I am not far enough in the series to know.
I have had many traumas in my life that have made even these three episodes a challenge to watch. I hate seeing Daenerys crying while having sex. I hated witnessing the attempted murder of Bran. Being reminded of a “woman’s place” made me uncomfortable and grateful the world is no longer that way so openly. Like I said earlier, Viserys’s treatment of Daenerys is atrocious, and Jon Snow is not considered family is bullshit. The butcher’s boy and the wolf being killed for playing and defending Arya is horrid.
The actors that played these roles did an excellent job. When watching, I get lost in watching, wanting to know what happens next. The people who made the sets did a superb job that worked magic with the skill of the actor, and it all brought to life a world to join and forget everything else for a little while.
So, would Andie watch it? Yes, I think I will continue to watch. Well, I will try. A turn-off from the show is EVERYONE says season eight blew. Why do I want to watch a series that is going to suck in the end? I will say that if you have trauma that has to do with violence or sexual assault, this might be a little hard to watch. But I can watch it kinda, which is why I said I would try to continue watching. So yeah. I finally tried GoT. I must say last minute that so far, Tyrion Lannister (played by Peter Dinklage)is my favorite. What are your thoughts? Let me know in the comments below.
