Hey All! I am starting a new article series, Would Andie Watch It? I will watch the first one to three episodes of a series and give you my thoughts. This may fill up how many more series I am watching, but it is a risk I am willing to take. Today’s series is 2019’s Good Omens. It stars David Tennant as the demon Cowley and Michael Sheen as the angel Aziraphale. It is based on a book written by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, the author of American Gods.
I was stupidly excited to watch this. I am a huge Neil Gaiman fan. I love his work, and he wrote American Gods, Sandman, and other works. However, I must admit that I have never read Good Omens, so I had very little idea of what I was walking into. I also love Michael Sheen and David Tennant as actors who made the potential much higher. The show is about either starting or stopping the start of Armageddon. It just depends on what side you are on. The Antichrist has already been born.
I was so disappointed, and I could barely get through the first episode. It took me two tries. The way the characters behave or speak is a turn-off. It felt that Aziraphale was the wrong kind of prissy. Crowley wasn’t demony enough. Maybe that was Crowley’s point. The makeup was horrible. It was so thick it was ridiculous. The family they sent the Antichrist home with makes you put your face in your hand. There was a lot of cheese in this. Now mind you, I love a good cheese movie or show. Cheese works well with this. I think they had the wrong flavor.
The show wasn’t without its good points. I do like the idea of an angel and demon working separately together. Neither of them wants the world to end because they like the perks of humans. I love that for a reason that they work together. Mr. Sheen and Mr. Tennant play the roles they were given well. However, I was not too fond of the part. The fire was a nice touch. I like the nuns, but I think they could have been done better.
My verdict: I wouldn’t watch this. I think Supernatural ruined me for angels and demons. I couldn’t watch this. Do you agree or disagree? Let me know and tell me why in the comments below. Change my mind. Until next time.
