It’s that magical time again – time to check out seven more great furry art picks!

This article also marks the end of August, and I’m honestly surprised how fast this year has been going! I might have to think of something cool to do to kinda celebrate getting towads the end of the year. Maybe a top of the top list? Hm…

Anyways! Let’s get onto this week’s top seven furry art picks, starting with:

7. Circles of Magic

Kicking off this week’s list is this cute female spell caster done by Psicoyote as a commission for another furry. I really like it! Especially that more toon-esque look that, surprisingly, hasn’t been seen too often in this series. Hm…I need to look out for toon art more.

The white fur and outfit up against the dark background (and dark tights) makes for a great contrast too, and you’re naturally drawn to the spellcaster because of how she’s positioned between the circles. Throw in some nice special effects (the cape looks like it sparkles!) and it’s a nice piece.

6. Vanguard Magic

Looks like the cute magic user train doesn’t stop! Ori Simo gives us this nice commission with lots of splashy special effects – I love how those two magical energies swirl around with magical runes also flying about. The way they go in all these different directions also guides your eye around the piece, and calls attention to all aspects of the rabbit character.

Also, if the art style looks familiar, you might be a player of Cardfight Vanguard, which Ori Simo has done official artwork for. It certainly looks like a piece from a card game! And that just makes it even more awesome.

5. Puzzling Anubis

Another magic user! I swear I didn’t plan this!

Here we’ve got fan art of Anubis as seen in the mobile game Puzzle & Dragons. And what a nice rendition of Anubis it is! I’m really digging the way Ching rendered the gold on him, and those gems in the belt and chest strap are a nice touch. There’s just something about black and gold that goes together extremely well.

While he’s not a cute magic user, he’s definitely got some good looks. Hey, who said magical beings can’t have some nice looks!

4. Fun in a Box!

Next up on our list is a piece that brings us back into the cute (unless you found Anubis cute – I ain’t gonna judge you on that!) with a piece by Kyander.

I mean c’mon, how can you not smile while looking at this little fella? He’s so overjoyed to be in that little box (I’m assuming he’s going to a friend or loved one) and that grin is too infectious. Couple that with all of Kyander’s usual talent and awesomeness and you’ve got another winner on your hands! Looks like it’s pool party time.

Before we do the top three, let’s take some time to check out some sweet honorable mentions. But if you thought you were going to escape the spell casting and magic…well just see for yourself:

There’s no end to the magic in this week’s top picks it seems! Now, let’s take a look at the top three, starting with:

3. Psychedelic Wild Dog

Kicking off the top three is this really colorful and otherworldly piece done by Khamisu. Psychedelic art always catches my attention, and when it’s as well done and astral as this, it’s hard to not want to place it high. There’s more than just “wow out of this world” that gets this to the #3 spot, however. The overall design and use of the gradient warm colors works really well. The design of the flower pedals behind the head helps bring that astral mood to mind, and then the space background with the constellations helps escalate things to a cosmic scale.

2. Mourning Robin

And now we’ve gone from the cosmic to the macabre! Desu Box comes back to the series with an alternate-reality concept where Robin Hood (the Disney one) may have been possibly killed off! And as a result, we’ve got Maid Marian in a chapel praying for Robin to come back.

It’s a bit of a downer piece – but I am interested to see where Desu Box takes this “Castlevaina-esque” concept. The dress that Marian is wearing is simply astounding as well. I love all the little details that went into it, all the folds, fluffs, frills, and the dark blue color matches perfectly with the somber mood – and also contrasts with her red eyes. Did she always have red eyes?

Speaking of macabre, that brings us to the #1 pick of the week:

1. Hazbin Hotel Zine

I’ll be honest, I haven’t seen Hazbin Hotel yet, but that doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate some great fan art when I see it. After all, BNA and Beastars have found places in these articles and the most I’ve done is read the Cliff Notes summary for each series.

But this piece by KS Frost just radiates a foreboding, dark, and a touch of badass. It must be the gold and black dynamic at work! I think it’s also due to the design of our rabbit-looking character. He’s very, sharp, angled, slender. Very sharp looking claws with gold eye-like placements, and a face that says “Why yes….I do have a plan!”

I’m not sure if this fellow is from Hazbin Hotel proper or is an OC – but what I’m sure of is that this is the week’s #1 pick! Congratulations KS Frost and well done!

And with that, August comes to a close! Next up is September, and I can’t wait to see what it brings to the table. The art table that is!

Which piece did you like the most? Do you agree with my list, or do you have your own order? Let me know what you think in the comments, I’d love to hear it!
