In this time of quarantine, we need all the escape for sanity we can get. Many of us have children at home all day. The demands of us are different right now than they usually are. For me, books offer a wonderful escape. I get to go to a different world and meet different people. I love the magical world to be mixed with the mundane. Fantasy in a fantasy world is great too. I want to share my reading list with you. Hopefully, it will help you through this difficult time too.

Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton. I have covered the Anita Blake series in many different ways here at TGON. Anita Blake is a badass woman. She is a Federal Marshall and a human servant that can kill vampires and Lycans with no problem if it will keep her loved ones safe. Her love life is a wreck because she keeps poking at it and sex with her can be lethal.

Merry Gentry series by Laurell K. Hamilton. I have also covered the Merry Gentry series here at TGON. Merry Gentry is actually Princess Meredith NicEssus. First American born fairy princess. She is called back to Fairie by her Aunt Queen of Air and Darkness Andias and put into a race to get pregnant with her cousin Cel. Whoever gets pregnant/gets someone pregnant first will claim the Dark Throne.

The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. This is another series I have covered here at TGON. Harry Dresden is a wizard. He is also a PI in Chicago. He has come up against werewolves, necromancers, body snatchers, vampires, demons, Gods and loads of other fun people. With him are Michael Carpenter and Bob (I love Bob!) and later Molly and always Murphy. He even gets to ride a dead T Rex named Sue.

Goddess Summoning series by P. C. Cast. The Goddess Summoning series are stand-alone books with a common theme. They are set in Oklahoma and somewhere in history or fantasy. The woman takes a Goddess’s place or a Goddess puts her somewhere that she can make a difference. One of my favorites is Goddess of Spring where Lina takes the Goddess Persephone’s place in Hades.

The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice. Who doesn’t know at least a little of the story of Lestat, Louis, Akasha, Marius and the secret world of Vampires? There is so much more to the story. Lestat goes to Hell and Atlantis and so much more.

The Time Of Feasting by Mick Farrenis my husband’s favorite book. It is about a colony of vampires that live below New York City. They want to devour the human race. They begin to challenge their master Renquist. An ex-priest and a cop also challenge Renquist. What will happen?

American Gods by Neil Gaiman. Just like the Starz hit series, Shadow Moon follows Mr. Wednesday and goes up against Mr. World, Media and Tech Boy and a war is coming.

Any of these would be superb escapes when you have a few minutes here and there. I will put my introductions to Anita, Merry and Harry down below so you can get to know them. Do you have favorite go-to books or ones you are aching to read? Let me know in the comments below. In this time where we must be physically distant, let’s not be socially distant. If you comment I promise I will answer. Til next week…
