Spoilers will be talked about below, so please be sure to watch the latest episode before reading on! This review is based off of the dub version of Super that currently airs on Toonami.

With Episode 114, we’re only 21 minutes or so until the end of the Tournament of Power and the fighters are pulling off all the stops, this is no different for the fight of Goku against both Kale and Caulifa. We didn’t waste much time from where we last left off and we start the episode with a literally huge transformation of Kale entering her Berserker form, however this time it’s different now that Caulifa finally accepts and wants to fight with Kale against Goku.

This is enough to snap Kale back to reality and also still have her keep her insane power level in her Legendary Super Saiyan form. Everyone in the stands, because of this, states that Kale is actually stronger now that she can control the rage in her. This spells bad news for Goku though as he’s on the receiving end of some nasty double team moves. It’s at the point where Goku is forced to go to Super Saiyan God form just to keep up. Once he does, he’s finally able to turn the tables on Kale and Caulifa with how much faster he is in the form.

It gets to the point where Goku is able to push back Kale and Caulifa to the edge of the arena and fires off a God Kamehameha at them both. But just then, two green orbs pierce through the blast. It turns out that both of the Saiyans of Universe 6 had a trick card to play. They actually used their universes own style of Portera Earrings to fuse! Together they become the being called “Kelfa”. While in this form they completely out match Goku in his God form and begin to beat him up as the episode comes to a close.

The other things that went on in the episode is that Vegeta fought Top in the background while all of this is happening and we cut away to get Vegeta’s reactions at times. The first time is when Kale transformers into her Berserker form, she was so powerful that she made almost everyone stop in awe — even Jiren flinched a bit from it. The other time was when Kale and Caulifa actually fused together, however this time Top didn’t let Vegeta take a moment to gasp at it and instead kept fighting with him.

In the stands we had the usual spectators commentating on almost everything with the likes of Beerus, Whis, Champa, Krillian, Tien, etc. But the other notable spectator of the episode was actually Frieza, who wanted in on the fight against Kale and Caulifa but Goku stopped cause of well “fighting honor” that Goku has against other Saiyans. Frieza instead was dealing with this Super Sentai-like-fighter from Universe 3, who always had something happening to him inadvertently before he can even fight Frieza — like Goku and Kale running over the poor guy due to their fighting.

Some things I’ve noticed with the episode though is that Frieza is back to having his regular voice again after having a few episodes of a nasally sound to it — maybe the voice actor had a cold during those recordings? Also the weird slow down that was showing up in the past few episodes during the punching furies are completely gone now! The big thing that bothered me was that the use of the Portera Earrings should be in volition against the Tournament Of Power rules — fighters are disallowed from using outside items and everything must be skilled based for them. It’s why the Sensu Beans weren’t allowed.

It’s also a big reason why Trunks and Goten couldn’t go, since the regular Dance Fusion was against the tournament as well from what I remembered. So it’s surprising how the earrings got past the Grand Minister and/or if this will all be addressed in the next episode leading to Kelfa being eliminated. Also what would be nice in a few episodes is at least some more focus on the Top/Vegeta fight and also what about Gohan and Piccolo’s scuffle with the Namekians that we all somehow forgot about until now?
