Okay, so it’s more of a count up, but details, details. Since the announcement was made that Supernatural’s 15th season will be its last, I find myself feeling nostalgic. So, for the next 14 weeks I’ll be posting and writing about the five (in my opinion) best episodes of each season. This is by no means a definitive list, nor is it in any particular order, but I will fight anyone who tries to argue that these are not the best of a very long, very beautifully painful show.

Season One

1.) Faith

Faith was one of the first episodes of the series that we got to see that there was more to Dean than wisecracks and whiskey. It’s also when the freshman show took on bigger questions and stories than the typical urban legends.

2.) The Benders

Hands down one of the best and creepiest episodes of the series, Dean and Sam go hunting for monsters only to realize that the monsters are human. It’s fucked up and scary and still one of my all time favorites. Monsters are just doing what’s in their nature, humans just do it for fun…

3.) Devil’s Trap

What can I say? We meet Bobby, we fight a scary AF Meg… we get to see just how fucked up the Winchester’s family dynamic was (I mean, Dean knew his dad was possessed because John was too nice to him?!). The season one finale upped the tension and brought us Bobby Singer, ’nuff said.

4.) Something Wicked

Anything with kids ups the creep factor by 110%, if you ask me. In the years since this episode aired, I’ve often wished for more episodes with these rare monsters, but alas, we have vamps and demons. We got so much about Dean and Sam’s childhood in Something Wicked: we saw how fast Dean had to grow up, how strained his relationship with his father was, and the extent he was responsible for his little brother. Not to mention that they had to use a kid as bait to clean up John’s missed hunt… yikes.

5.) Home

Oh man. This one hurt a bit. We meet Missouri Mosely, the most underutilized character on this show, and visit The House. The house where Mary died and the Winchester family changed forever.

Alright! So those are my top five for season one! What do you think? Am I missing one?  is there an episode on there you just hate?? Welp, too bad, it’s my list! Come back next week for my season two top five (plue like, four honorable mentions because I’m indecisive AF)
