In the sixth episode of season six, Drunk History does drugs. Lots of drugs! Ok, not lots. And they don’t actually do the drugs but the episode is about LSD, meth, and some crazy stories about the people who do them.

The first segment is hosted by Dr. Drew with guest star Duncan Trussell to tell the tale of Dr. John C. Lilly, a scientist who experimented with LSD while studying the intelligence of dolphins. Yeah, things got weird.

Starring Jay Duplas as Dr. John Lily and Shiri Appleby as scientist Margaret Howe Lovett, we learn about how Dr. Lily, Lovett, and others agreed that the best way to prepare for communication with future alien life was to learn how to communicate with an alien species on Earth; the dolphins. Rather than learning the language of the dolphins, thought, the team tries to teach dolphins like a male named Peter to speak English.

Chris Parnel guest stars as Carl Sagan (Carl Satan!!) who is at first interested and then horrified to find that scientists give a little something special to at least one of the dolphins, and I don’t just mean LSD. He eventually has their funding cut in order to preserve the good name of science . . .but the Marine Mammal Protection Act is passed, recognizing whales and dolphins as intelligent species.

In the second segment, hosted by Derek Waters, Jon Lovett tells the story of how JFK and Jackie were administered a a pick-me-up drug by Dr. Max Jacobson who would come to be known as the original “Dr. Feelgood.”
