Thankfully, finally, after a year of basking in the limelight and generally living their best lives everyone’s favorite 2 Dope Queens are back on HBO with season two of their four-part comedy series. In the fourth and final episode of the season, “Regal AF,” which I had the pleasure of attending live with my best friend Alley, the Queens are truly regal from start to finish with fashion stories that range from Phoebe who describes her look as Wakandaesque Tarantino villain to Jess’s Zac Posen princess in blue with enough bling from Tiffany’s to warrant a security detail.

Now that the Queens have gained recognition on a national level as famous and fab they’ve both experienced changes in lifestyle, like Phoebe’s everyday story about how she held back a fart during casual hangs with Michelle Obama and Jess’s interest in “woowoo things” like crystals and chakras and stuff my friend Alley likes. Phoebe’s Bake-Off bae has inspired her to get into the (obviously) regal vibe of British culture and there is discussion of the eleganza of the Markle wedding, tea, and a couple of pretty bad British accents.

Comedians for the final episode include the royal gay intern Josh Sharp, (who talks about his MAGA man throat polyp, Jaqueline Novak, an intellectual in the female form who uses that space!, and Nore Davis who describes the trials and tribulations of white women on the Metro North (I’m pretty sure we ended up being those white women only a few hours later) and his mother – the famous Miss Davis.

The night’s comic vibe continues with extra special guest Keenan-Michael Key, who talks about his role in the Lion King remake, tells his favorite Disney song (it’s Poor, Unfortunate Souls!) and talks about living one of his dreams playing Horatio in Hamlet. Key and the Queens do a quick round of impressions, including a French gynecologist, British Katherine/Audrey Hepburn, and a Swedish motivational speaker. As another season wraps, just know that we had so much fun seeing 2 Dope Queens live and can’t wait to get tickets to all four episodes next season!
