Mr. Mercedes comes back this week and I am super excited. After a stellar first season, I’m looking forward to seeing if they can keep the magic with their sophomore outing.
Originally a trilogy written by Stephen King, the first season pit Detective Bill Hodges (Brendan Gleeson) vs. the sadistic Brady Hartsfield (Harry Treadaway) after Hartsfield plowed a Mercedes into a group of people waiting in line for a job fair, earning Hartsfield the name “Mr. Mercedes.” From what I understand the second season will actually follow the event of the third book, End of Watch. For ease of storytelling it makes sense, but I am going to be very interested how they handle it and if they will then do a third season that follows the second book or what they are going to do if it is renewed again.
All of the main cast is set to return for this season and we are going to be seeing some new faces. One of the people I am most excited for is Donna Hodges, who will be played by Nancy Travis. Donna is Bill’s ex-wife and I am assuming possible love interest for this season. It will be interesting to see the dynamic of that, because this will be completely new material, with Bill’s ex not really playing a part in the source material.
Season two is set to premiere on August 22 only on Audience Channel.
