The boldness of CBS All Access’s freshman sci-fi drama was a hit with the burgeoning streaming network’s subscribers. Boasting a diverse and inclusive cast, “Star Trek: Discovery” gave fans the middle of the Star Fkeet saga. Following Lt. Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green), it was a critical and popular darling with its strong and complex storytelling and wizardry in CGI.

At SDCC, showrunner Alex Kurtzman teased major updates to the cast. Joining season 2 as Captain Christopher Pike is Anson Mount (“Hell on Wheels”) and the original Number One will be portrayed by Rebecca Romijn (“X-Men). Kurtzman also confirmed the presence of one of the most important figures in the Trek-verse: Spock.

As for the couples within the show, Wilson Cruz (Dr. Culber) hinted at his return and reunion with Stametz (Anthony Rapp). As for Lt. Ash Tyler (Shazad Latif), he wants to make his way back to Burnham but feels obligated to find his own path.
