frightening than a mask that won’t come off or finding out your dad is a plant-human hybrid.  Actually, that last one might be kind of cool.  That aside here’s what we know thus far, in easy to chew pieces.

RELEASE DATE:

We’ve had everything from January to September, but I think all sources have finally settled on October 12th, which works out well because it’s the closest to Halloween.  So, barring something unforeseen, you should expect it on that date.

WHAT ARE THEY CALLING IT?

We finally have an answer for you, as of February.  According to several sources filtered through Twitter, including R.L. Stine himself, the final title is Goosebumps 2: Slappy Halloween.

For a long time, we were sitting with Horrorland, and Slappy’s Revenge was being kicked around as well.  But I guess we had to go the obvious route.  I have no problems with Slappy.   Quite the contrary, I love that maniacal hunk of coffin wood.  But with Horrorland, at least we had some mystery as to whether or not Stine’s most vindictive creation would be back right away.  But with a title like Slappy Halloween, all doubt is removed.

WHO’S IN IT?

Well, we still don’t know if Jack Black will return as Stine, but movieweb.com suggests that there are two scripts in the works just in case they can’t get him to be there physically.  However, he is still voicing Slappy, so he’ll at least be there in spirit.

The cast also includes Madison Iseman, Wendi McLendon Covey, and Chris Parnell

WHAT IS THIS MOVIE EVEN ABOUT?

We still have no idea.  But it’s a safe bet that it will involve Slappy, and probably take place on Halloween.  I look forward to describing it in more details as they come to light.

Currently, we have no trailer, and no definitive movie poster, as a lot of them still say HORRORLAND.  But despite our lack of information, I am still really excited.  Goosebumps was always a really important part of my life, as weird as that may sound.  So the fact that it’s getting the silver screen treatment almost twenty years after the show and books were released always brings a smile to my face.

So viewers beware, eventually, you’re in for a scare!
