Valentine’s Day can be a drag sometimes, but you know what makes it better? Grabbing a drink and discussing your favorite sex-related history facts. Here are the best moments from “Sex,” last week’s episode of “Drunk History”!
Alison Rich Talks About the Birth of Birth Control
“I’ve been drinking vodka and cranberry juice like a real college freshman.”
I came out to have a good time with my vodka-cran in hand and I am honestly feeling so attacked right now.
DIAPHRAGM DRESSES!!! Women helping women!! With diaphragm dresses!!
Alison got emotional when discussing the unfair amount of stress women experience when striving toward an inflated standard of success. This moment hit really close to home and I’m glad it was included in the final cut because seeing women react to women’s issues is always fucking necessary.
Don’t worry though, she made sure to remind everyone that Margaret Sanger was a eugenicist and Martin Luther King, Jr. had affairs. No one’s perfect, but all’s well.
Gabe Liedman Discusses the Kinseys and Their Scale
No, spelling out the word “fucking” will not avoid any sort of sensor. I didn’t know that before, but this is an educational show after all. Extra points to Gabe for trying his drunken best.
On Alfred Kinsey’s own place on the Kinsey Scale:
“…he was like original bisexual…I’m imagining it right now.”
….ok.
Katie Nolan Talks About Gloria Steinem and Playboy Clubs
Beautiful women! Drinks! Food! Boobies and vaginas! Yeah!
Have you ever seen a more accurate summary of the purpose behind Playboy Clubs?
Seeing Abbi Jacobson as a Gloria Steinem made me SO HAPPY. I don’t think I could have asked for anyone better for that role. But to also see Jane Krakowski as a Bunny Mom? I lost my mind, y’all.
And finally, my favorite moment of the episode. Derek got teary-eyed when talking about how Katie has stood her ground as a woman in a sports television position. He looked so proud of her and it made my heart melt. Naturally, she asked for someone else to take his place for the last few seconds of the episode. Way to bring the moment back to what the show is all about, Katie!
Tonight’s episode of “Drunk History” focuses on Civil Rights! Tune in to Comedy Central at 10 p.m. and reach out to me on Twitter with your reactions!
