Will & Grace - Season 1

Chris Haston / NBC

Will & Grace once again take something that isn’t about them and – big shocker – make it about them.

Vince comes over for brunch one morning to announce that he’s getting married, and that he wants Will to be there, only if he’s comfortable. Will takes this as a challenge and so obviously he has to be there even though he is extremely hurt that Vince wouldn’t commit to him after all their time together but he had no problem committing to this rando he hasn’t even been with for a year.

At first, Grace convinces him to not go, for his own sanity, but then while she’s at the wedding talking about him, he shows up behind her like the Babadook. I don’t actually know if that’s what the Babadook does, I’ve never seen that movie, but I’m sure it’s better than this reboot of W&G has been so tbh we should talk about it instead.

Will admits that he’s there because he wants closure, needs to know why Vince wouldn’t be with him. He ends up making so many scenes throughout the ceremony that Vince eventually snaps and tells him he was a bad boyfriend who didn’t really like him, was always criticizing him, that’s why he didn’t want to marry him. Will freaks out, makes this even more about him, and ropes Grace into the whole mess.

They spend the toast portion of the evening toasting each other and bashing love – only interrupted once in a while by Jack who needs to make it clear to someone that he is not in love with him.

Yup, Jack hooks up with a cop at the wedding, but the cop is married and closeted, and this is his first experience. He keeps talking about loving Jack and wanting to go away with him and his wife is so excited that he has male friends that she all but pushes them together.

In the end Jack & the cop hook up one more time in the men’s room where they are caught by Vince & Will, having a real heart to heart and patching things up once and for all.

Lastly, Karen is doing a rich people scavenger hunt, so she keeps stealing things from people and calling Jared & Ivanka to brag. I hate when W&G keeps reminding me of the political climate – it ain’t cute.

I’m sorry guys, this was just bad, the jokes were stale, the plot was so selfish, it was one of my least favourite episodes of a season that has been mediocre at best. It turns out nostalgia alone can’t carry a series.
