The holiday season isn’t just for receiving gifts (although getting stuff is awesome). It’s also great time of year to give to people in need and support organizations striving to make our world a better place. Many of our favorite fandom celebs support charity organizations so we at TGON have compiled a handy list for anyone who wants to give as well as receive this year.

THE AVENGERS

If 2017 has shown us anything, it’s that Chris Evans may actually BE Captain America. Chris has long supported Christopher’s Haven, an organization based in his hometown of Boston that helps the families of children with cancer.

Avengers stars Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, and Chris Hemsworth are running a campaign to benefit The Solutions Project, an organization dedicated to clean energy. Right now there is a pretty awesome Avengers “Heroes” T-shirt available with proceeds going to the organization:

HAMILTON

Hurricane Maria absolutely devastated Puerto Rico and the island continues to struggle in its recovery efforts. Lin-Manuel Miranda has been a vocal champion of The Hispanic Federation’s UNIDOS Disaster Relief and Recovery Program.

BONES

Bones star Emily Deschanel is on the board of directors for Farm Sanctuary, an organization that works to end farm animal abuse through legislative and legal actions, public awareness and humane education projects, and direct rescue and shelter of farm animals.

SUPERNATURAL

The SPN family is a VERY charitable group and fans of the show and its stars have a number of options if they want to support the Supernatural squad’s causes.

  • The mission statement of Misha Collins’s charity organization, Random Acts, is “to conquer the world one random act of kindness at a time. We are here to inspire acts of kindness around the world both big and small. We provide a vast network of caring people with the encouragement and support they need to change lives for the better.”

  • The Stands organization runs a lot of charity campaigns for Misha, Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Kim Rhodes, and Mark Sheppard.

  • Jensen, Daneel, Misha, and Jared have teamed up with Jensen’s Brewery to raise money for victims of Hurricanes Harvey, Maria, and Irma. The campaign is called Stronger Than Storms.

STEPHEN KING

Stephen King fans can donate to The Stephen and Tabitha King Foundation, which provides grant money to communities in Maine. A lot of the funds go to Maine’s public libraries. King fans (and fans of books in general) can also donate to their local public libraries because books are great and everyone should have access to them!

SILICON VALLEY

Silicon Valley star Thomas Middleditch is a big supporter of The Sierra Club, the nation’s largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization.

OUTLANDER

The Outlander stars champion a number of charities which are listed and described HERE.

CW D.C. UNIVERSE

The women of CW’s DCTV universe created Shethority, an organization that focuses on the empowerment of women. All proceeds go to helping women get out of bad situations and helping them find their way back to being strong and independent.
