Sometimes you see a trailer for a movie and you instantly want to run to the cinema to go and watch it. I had this exact feeling about The Greatest Showman trailers.

Inspired by the imagination of P.T. Barnum, The Greatest Showman is a musical movie that celebrates the birth of show business and tells of a visionary who rose from nothing to create a spectacle that became the worldwide travelling sensation that was Barnum & Bailey Circus and the Ringling Bros.

The movie features a few well-known names in the movie world like Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, Michelle Williams, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.
The movie will feature eleven new songs written by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the Academy Award-winning lyricists of La La Land (2016). From early on in pre-production on the film, the decision was made to make the style of the songs more like pop and hip hop rather than of a traditional, classical musical style that would accurately evoke the film’s 1800s setting.

As Benj Pasek said, “The choice was to express not just the characters’ feelings, but also how ahead of his time P.T. Barnum was. He wasn’t bound by the world in which he lived; he wanted to create one.”

If this doesn’t give you enough reasons to go and watch the movie: At the 75th Golden Globe Awards, the film received three nominations: Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, Best Actor – Comedy or Musical for Jackman and Best Original Song for “This is Me”.

The Greatest Showman premiers in theaters December 20th 2017.
