While San Diego Comic-Con holds the title of largest and most anticipated, London Film & Comic-Con gave it a run for its money this weekend, and it was due almost entirely to one very special guest: Benedict Cumberbatch.

Hundreds of fans lined up over the course of two days to get a picture with Cumberbatch, who is one of the hottest actors in Hollywood right now (both in looks and popularity). He rose to fame back in 2010 with his smash hit BBC show Sherlock (the iconic title role which scored him an Emmy nom this year), but his recent jump into the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Doctor Strange has introduced him to all new audiences. He’s starred in countless other films over the past ten years, including the Oscar-nominated film The Imitation Game. And he has no plans of slowing down; He has at least four projects in the works (including the highly anticipated Avengers: Infinity War) and he just revealed that he’s about to start another one.

He has a MASSIVE fanbase — which he calls the “Cumber Collective” — and it was evident this weekend. Cumberbatch posed for hundreds of pictures, with varying degrees of hilarity.

He also managed to start a Sherlock ship war during his panel when his answer to fan question “Who would Sherlock fall in love with?” was:

“Well it’s obvious, isn’t it? There’s only one that comes to mind: Doctor Watson. *Laughter/Applause* No, kidding, well it would probably be Molly, wouldn’t it?”

This answer started a fandom-wide furry that will certainly be added to the Sherlock history books.

Another very popular guest at LFCC was Madds Mikkelson, known best for his title role in Hannibal (which is rumored to be coming back by popular demand!!), but making appearances in Rouge One: A Star Wars StoryCasino Royale, and alongside Cumberbatch himself in Doctor Strange.

Other stars at LFCC included James & Oliver Phelps from the Harry Potter series, Dan Fogler from Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them, Natalie Dormer from Game of Thrones, and many more.

Overall it was great weekend for fans and stars alike. Though at this point, I think they should just give Benedict Cumberbatch his own convention.
