For (self-proclaimed) television connoisseurs such as myself, nothing is more invigorating & nerve-racking than Emmy season. The fact is, television these days is good. Like really, really good. And the Emmys is the place where the best of the best hash it out, and water cooler debate scores are settled once and for all.

This is a tough category, no doubt about it. The biggest one, too. Better Call Saul and This Is Us have an uphill climb here competing against huge streaming services like Netflix & Hulu. And yes, Netflix did pull off some hits this year with Stranger Things and The Crown, but I think Hulu’s taking it home.

Master of None came out swinging this year and boy did it deliver! If season 1 was good then season 2 was EXCELLENT! Aziz Ansari is impossible to dislike and the style of this show is unlike anything else. Oh and did I mention it’s HILARIOUS?!

If you didn’t like Westworld as a series that’s perfectly ok. To tell you the truth, I didn’t care for it much. But one thing is undeniable — Evan Rachel Wood can act! Look, if you’ve spent 5 minutes in a room with me, or opened my Twitter account on any given day, you’d know that Benedict Cumberbatch has my heart and soul and that Sherlock is my favorite show of all time. Now, that being said — we all know what a trainwreck Sherlock S4 was (need I pull this out again?: https://thegameofnerds.com/2017/02/05/an-open-essay-to-the-creators-of-sherlock/), but The Lying Detective was really fun (heartbreaking?) and above all, Benedict Cumberbatch stood his ground as one the current most sought-after celebs. This is easily Ben C.’s best performance ever (and I would know, I’ve watched him in everything), and he deserves this win even though S4 on the whole was a disaster.
