Filming has begun at Leavesdon Studios for the upcoming sequel of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and with this news comes much-anticipated casting news and plot details.

In case you weren’t already sure, there’s a lot to look forward to in this film. The returning cast includes, of course, Eddie Redmayne (Newt Scamander), Katherine Waterston (Tina Goldstein), Alison Sudol (Queenie Goldstein), and Dan Fogler (Jacob Kowalski). That’s right – Jacob’s back (in what will very likely be quite the feels trip, based on how things ended for him in the first film…), as well as Credence, played by Ezra Miller.
Additionally, Johnny Depp and Jude Law are joining the cast as – brace yourself – Gellert Grindelwald and Albus Dumbledore, respectively. (Swoon.) Other new characters include Leta Lestrange, played by Zoe Kravitz, and Theseus Scamander, played by Callum Turner.
We’ve got a fantastic (pun totally intended) cast, now let’s see what’s in store for the storyline.
So far, it has been revealed that the events following the first film include Grindelwald escaping prison, and going even further on his villainous power-trip. His at one time closest friend, Albus Dumbledore, will need help from Newt himself – the only other wizard to have outsmarted Grindelwald before – to put an end to the evil wizard’s reign.
This sequel, set to be released on November 16, 2018, is sure to be just as cinematic, creative, and entertaining as the first, with this fabulous cast and the queen J.K. Rowling herself at the helm as a screenwriter and producer. A few other names you wizarding world fans will know, include Steve Kloves as producer and David Yates as director.
In summary… you should be very excited! Time to set the countdown clocks for a year and a half…
