With the season finale tonight, most fans of Once Upon a Time should be worrying about potential cliff hangers that may last into fall. Instead fans are trying to digest all the latest Storybooke news and gossip. Earlier this week, the fandom was surprised to learn lead actress Jennifer Morrison would be exiting Once Upon a Time after this season ended. She did state in her Instagram that IF the show was picked up for a seventh season her contract allowed her to do one more episode. THAT’S IT. Jennifer clarified that show frontrunners did offer her to stay on as a season regular but she declined. Needless to say, it was a rough start to the week. Then rumors began to trickle in that the Charming Family wouldn’t be returning at all. Now it is confirmed that the following actors will not be returning to Storybrooke after this season finale:
- Ginnifer Goodwin as Snow White
- Josh Dallas as Prince Charming
- Rebecca Mader as Zelena
- Jared S. Gilmore as Henry Mills
- Emilie de Ravin as Belle
Rumors had been flying around for a while about Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas departure, so many fans weren’t surprised by this announcement. Emilie de Ravin and Rebecca Vader on the other hand have both released statements saying they would have loved to stay on for another season. They were told their character wouldn’t be needed in season seven. While Once Upon a Time fans were shocked by the sudden leaving of some of its major characters, there was some good news in the mix. ABC did renew the show for its seventh season. The network declared they are planning on moving the focus of the show to Once Upon a Time characters: Regina Mills (Lana Parilla), Rumpelstiltskin (Robert Carlyle), and Hook (Colin O’Donaghue). Plus Andrew J. West’s has been casted for a version of “older Henry” and will become a season regular. All of this shouldn’t really come as a surprise though. In January, Channing Dungey hinted to Deadline about season six being the close of one chapter and the beginning of another. So unfortunately it looks like this plan was in the works for a while.
