On October 6th, 2017, the highly anticipated sequel to the 80’s classic Blade Runner, Blade Runner 2049, will be released in theaters! The initial viewings of the film at CinemaCon last week were very highly received. Star Ryan Gosling says that movie goers can expect to be on the edge of their seats throughout the entire film. We’ve also heard that 2049 will be just as dark and edgy as the original…maybe even darker. Many are even predicting a The Force Awakens-style ending for Harrison Ford (let’s hope not).
Here’s a short summary of the film from Warner Bros. Pictures:
Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.
In addition to stars Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford, expect to see Robin Wright, Jared Leto, Ana de Armas, Dave Bautista, and Edward James Almos.
Filmed primarily in Thailand with a stellar cast and already stellar reputation, this is sure to be a film you won’t want to miss!
As soon as I heard Gail Laughton in the teaser, I breathed a small sigh of relief. Blade Runner is very important to me and I have confidence in all involved. Although, admittedly I’m not a Jared Leto guy…
I am iffy on this movie. I love the original but doing a sequel so many years later screams trouble. I am reminded of Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. I wanted so badly for it to be good, because who doesn’t love Indiana Jones? What I got was a CG nightmare with bad writing.
