Hey Nerds! As I’m sure you all know by now, we’re getting a live-action-sort-of-solo Harley Quinn movie! More than that, we’re getting a live-action version of the comic book series “Gotham City Sirens,” which includes the ever amazing characters Catwoman and Poison Ivy. Our three favorite Gotham villains team up to wreak havoc which is awesome in itself, but that’s not exactly why this comic book series is so significant. Gotham City Sirens shows the moments in which Harley Quinn begins breaking away from The Joker and their heavily one-sided relationship. It also shows the beginnings of Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn’s heavily polyamorous relationship, as well as guides the readers toward The New 52 Harley Quinn series, which gives us a more exclusive look into Harley and her shift into an independent character!
With the new live-action movie underway, fans everywhere are hoping that we’ll get an amazing all-star cast, and a storyline that will stay true to the comics. So without further ado, let’s dive into what we know so far about this exciting new film!
The movie is being produced by Margot Robbie’s company, Luckychap Entertainment. Margot will ALSO be reprising her role as everyone’s favorite psychotic acrobat! (It is my personal belief that you couldn’t find a better Harley Quinn, but that’s just me.) They’re also bringing in Suicide Squad director David Ayer to direct the movie, and it seems the masses aren’t happy about this decision. While Suicide Squad wasn’t exactly the WORST film on the market, it toed the line between good and bad. A lot of fans believe that David Ayer is the reason behind this, and that he won’t do Gotham City Sirens justice; I guess we’ll have to wait and see on that.
Now when it comes to casting, there are quite a few rumors. However, there have been NO solid confirmations on who will play Poison Ivy and Catwoman, or whether Jared Leto and Ben Affleck will reprise their roles as The Joker and Batman respectively. The rumors stated that Megan Fox was in heavy talks for the role of Poison Ivy, but nothing has been confirmed, and since that time other actresses have been reportedly interested in the role. Now, no actresses have been rumored to be in talks to play our favorite antagonistic feline, but quite a few fans have voiced their interest in having Anne Hathaway return to the role. At the moment this is pretty much all that’s known about the film, and we at TGON have our own theories on who we’d like to take up the mantles of Catwoman and Poison Ivy, but we’d love to hear your casting and movie opinions as well! Let us know who you want to play the Sirens, and what you think of the famous comic book series turning into a live-action movie! And as always, thanks for reading!
