Netflix is about to create a Marvel fan’s dream come true — an epic mashup series combining some of the Marvel universe’s most interesting and misunderstood characters. The Defenders brings together fan favorites Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Daredevil, and newcomer Iron Fist in a long-awaited look into the ragtag group of New York’s finest crimefighters.
There is no release date yet on the project, but production has begun and Sigourney Weaver has been cast as the show’s main villain. However, Netflix has announced that Iron Fist will get his own Netflix series, premiering March 2017, and Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Daredevil will also get another season in the coming year. Additionally, Jon Bernthal will reprise his role as The Punisher in a new series.
