Who Is Josh’s Soup Fairy? / When Do I Get To Spend Time With Josh?

A lot can happen in 2 episodes of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend; people cheat, people break up, people get together, new people appear, people get fired, people do terrible live male modelling, people…well, you get the gist.

In “Who Is Josh’s Soup Fairy?” Scott tells Paula that he cheated on her with Karen from Shipping because he is trash (okay, so I added that last part) and she promptly kicks him the hell out! After Paula has a tiny meltdown at work and Mrs. Hernandez yells at Rebecca (YES! SHE SPOKE!), our girl volunteers as tribute to babysit Paula’s son so she can go on a field trip.

Rebecca is immediately exhausted with Tommy, not doing what to do with him. Slowly she even starts dressing in Paula’s typical flannel and half-sneakers, a nice touch. They go to the store together and run into, you guessed it, JOSH CHAN! He’s super nice and compliments Rebecca and sucks her back in with his charm and good looks. He mentions that he’s getting sick but Rebecca hugs him anyway, this is huge to him because his girlfriend Brittany Snow refused to do the same thing mere hours ago.

Because she’s IN LOVE WITH JOSH CHAN, Rebecca decides to send him some soup. She has the guy taking the order write a lovely note BUT that dude puts it in the bag with the soup so by the time it gets to Josh it’s all smudged. Hence, when Josh gets this matzo ball-less but probably still good soup, he assumes it’s from Anna, gets super excited, and has his boss take a picture of him with it (NOT A SELFIE IF YOU DON’T TAKE IT, JOSH!!!) He posts this to Instagram, of course, and tags Anna so Rebecca decides to take a child to a club so she can tell Josh that it was her soup, she’s the soup fairy dammit and he must know!

A lot is going on at the club so brace yourselves. First, Miss Douche is holding an event there with themed cocktails and a Q&A with Heather in which I’m pretty sure she’s not supposed to tell people to stop douching. Then, Rebecca is the victim of a mini hate-crime (soju vs so jew, we’ll never know what that waitress was saying) and loses Tommy (he’s fine, he was scared and just took an uber home, all is well). As she’s frantically looking for him, she gets stuck in the bathroom listening to Josh have sex with his girlfriend, AGAIN! Later, Josh has volunteered himself as a male model who would walk the runway for some undetermined purpose. After seeing him do that, Brittany Snow breaks up with him because she wants much more than this suburban life (Beauty & The Beast joke, please laugh).

This is also where she tells him that she’s not the soup fairy. Sweet angels Hector & WiJo who have been there the whole time, just being perfect, call up the soup place and the dude from the note earlier is like “maaaaan it was some chick named Rebeccaaaaa!” (I’m assuming he talks like a skater bro.) Josh breaks into song! How has he never noticed how nice and perfect Rebecca is before? Because like DUH, she’s the greatest. He ends up running to her and completing this grand gesture with a declaration of love, but first he finishes his song.

Y’all, he comes into Paula’s house, interrupting the moment Becks & Queen P were having (basically, they are bfffffff’s again) and says he wants to be with her! BUT REBECCA SHUTS HIM THE FUCK DOWN!

OMG THAT ENDING! Lucky for us we get to see “Who’s The New Guy?” immediately following 208 so we don’t have to be all stressed and nervous about what happens next!

Josh has basically been stalking Paula’s house, and sending Rebecca nonsense gifts while waiting around for a yes from her. Rebecca, for once, has been really good about putting her own needs aside to help Paula now that Scott is out of the picture. On day 3, Paula lets Josh in and tells them to go be in love! They makeout and cue West Covina Reprise 2.0

At this point in time, J&B are in a perfect love bubble, wearing matching koala pyjamas (WANT) and playing hookie from work. Darryl throws a wrench in their plans though when he impulsively sells the firm to some rich & way too attractive dude from LA. Rebecca is forced to go into work and meet the newbie (welcome Scott Michael Foster) and he does not mess around! He tells her that his family bought the firm because they wanted her and that everyone is going to have to start bringing in money and clients and working hella-hard. Initially, Becks just quits because she wants to go back to her love bubble; but then what’s-his-name mentions he’s firing 5 people on Friday, so she un-quits and promises to save him the money he needs by bringing in new business.

The show never forgets that Becks is a killer lawyer and this is one of those times where they remind us of it. She works so hard to get these 2 gross white dudes to bring their business over to Whitefeather. She cancels plans with Josh multiple times to do it and Paula even digs around in a grave to get some evidence.

Finally they land the client, and Rebecca saves everyones job – but not George, George got fired, he can’t catch a break. Throughout all this, the hot new boss kept insulting Josh and undermining him, probably because he wanted to motivate Rebecca? Eventually it all started sticking in her head and she got frustrated with Josh, even yelling at him in front of his parents because he’s sort of an idiot. After all this is done though, she says she loves him and doesn’t know why she let Nathaniel get to her. Rebecca apologizes for dismissing him and ignoring him and yelling at him, and they go to the bedroom to have a fantasy role-play fight sequence, so the relationship is pretty solid…for now!

Musical Moments

So Maternal Rebecca’s never pushed a baby out of her vagina but she’s the best mom ever.
DUH Josh realizes that he’s been super stupid and oblivious to Rebecca’s amazingness (debatable but okay)
West Covina Reprise This time, Josh & Becks arrive in WC together – lovely little callback to the pilot!
Who’s The New Guy? The gang at the office does not know who the new guy is or why they should be rooting for someone male, straight and white.
