After the major hit that was The Force Awakens, now it is time to start talking about the second instalment in the Star Wars sequel trilogy: Episode VIII. When I write this, the official title hasn’t been shared yet. But according to Mark Hamill, production on Star Wars 8 is so secret it’s like working for the CIA. So, although there is little known about this movie, here is what we know so far:

1. The Story

Having taken her first steps into a larger world in Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens (2015), Rey continues her epic journey with Finn, Poe and Luke Skywalker in the next chapter of the saga. But more details about the larger plot haven’t been revealed yet, and they might never even come. The only thing we know about the story is where it will begin: it’s been confirmed by the writer/director that the movie will break from franchise tradition and begin immediately after the end of The Force Awakens.

2. The Cast

At the Force Awakens premiers, it was announced that all the cast members from Force Awakens will be returning to the screen in Episode 8. Which means Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels and Lupita Nyong’o will be returning.

Next to the ‘new’ cast returning, we’ll spot some familiar faces like  Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker and Harrison Ford as Han Solo.

The movie will be written and directed by Rian Johnson.

3. Bad Guys

Every movie relies in one way or another on the bad guys. And we have quite a list already! We can expect Adam Driver as Kylo Ren, Andy Serkis as Supreme Leader Snoke, Domhnall Gleeson as General Hux and Gwendoline Christie as Captain Phasma.

I wish I could tell you more, but this is all we know so far! Star Wars: Episode VII will be in cinemas on December 15, 2017. Keep checking back on The Game of Nerds for all your Star Wars News!
