The Walking Dead: Service

We finally get a chance to see how Maggie and Sasha are coping at The Hilltop.

If you were one of the 6 million viewers who watched the first episode of the season but not watching anymore you missed a very important episode. We get to see how the two women are coping after losing loved ones. We also get to see how the baby is doing, Maggie and the baby are being tested, the baby is doing good overall, but the doctor says it is best if Maggie is close by until pregnancy. Maggie is uncertain what she wants to do but she wants to talk to Sasha and see where Glenn and Abraham are buried.

Sasha has buried both bodies and marked them, she gives Maggie the stop watch that he had on him from Hershel, and says that Abraham only had a cigar. They look at each other and try to choke back tears as Maggie kisses the watch and sets it on Glenn’s markers. Jesus comes by happy to see Maggie up, and Gregory comes shortly after. He gets names wrong again per usual, he wants to know what happened how her and her people said they could stop the Saviors, wanted to make sure they didn’t know they were working together so they could have, “plausible deniability” if asked. He gets upset and asks why the bodies haven’t been burned as they don’t bury bodies here, Jesus says that Sasha got Maggie here from Alexandria, and it seems the bodies too, I’m just wondering how they did that on their own or if the group dropped the two bodies, Sasha and Maggie off and drove home without Gregory knowing. I’m a little confused on this.

Sasha says they are staying since the doctor says so, Jesus also tries to push that issue too but Gregory wants them to leave the next day. He is so delusional he thought Sasha lives there and buried the bodies. Jesus and Sasha tell Gregory that the decision is not final and they will talk about it tonight.

Rick and Aaron get ready to go out on a supply run. Michonne and Carl stay behind, neither of them seem to happy about the whole situation. Carl, is really awful at darts. He is throwing with his left hand looking out his left eye. I’m thinking this will be symbolic for later showing that Carl is still getting his bearings set after his eye loss.  Things start happening fast and furious, Michonne heads out on her own. Enid leaves Alexandria because she has to go see Maggie. Carl says he won’t go and save her anymore.

Sasha and Jesus try to get on equal understanding of the situations. Sasha sees the leadership capabilities in Jesus, who doesn’t want to lead. Sasha doesn’t know why he stays and deals with Gregory and he says because the people need him. If it was just Gregory it would be easy to leave.

We catch up with Enid heading to the Hilltop. Someone FINALLY remembered you could use a bicycle to get around faster. She got into some trouble and Carl couldn’t resist and comes up in a car and kills a walker that is close to her.

We quickly get back to The Hilltop, which has Maggie and Sasha talking about their options, how much of a coward Gregory is. We than hear music coming from the central area, very very loud music. Sasha looks outside to see pockets of burning wood, and the music coming from a car in the middle of everything and the front gates wide open with walkers coming in. Maggie wants to help and Sasha tells her she can’t because of doctors orders, Maggie says she can’t do it alone. Maggie tells Jesus to help Sasha, she also directs two others to go close the gates. Jesus is a kung-fu master, and Sasha heads to the car but can’t get it open as it is locked up tight. Gregory sees this from his window and goes back inside.  Maggie goes and gets a tractor and backs it up, smashing walkers easily and heads to run over the car. Sasha and Jesus head towards the gate mowing down walkers like crazy. Maggie is a wonderful tractor driver and is able to aim those wheels right over the car and ending the music.

Gregory is ready to kick out Sasha and Maggie and wants to send them with a pie for thanking them for last night. Sasha offers to leave if Maggie stays and asks what it would take for Maggie to be able to stay. Gregory says he would need to meet with Sasha one on one and Maggie tells him to go to hell. When this happens he tells them to leave with no pie and the Saviors arrive. He tells Jesus to put them in a closet and maybe they will make it out alive.

Simon and the Saviors come in to talk to Gregory. Gregory is a horrible slime ball liar and tries horribly to act like he doesn’t know at all that a bunch of the Saviors were murdered. Simon takes Gregory into his study to have a more personal chat. Simon goes on to say that they got soft working with a guy like Gregory. Simon tells Gregory that, in so many words, Gregory is still around because they can work with him and not others. Simon tells Gregory that he is their Negan because that is what Negan wants. Gregory is going to tell Simon about Maggie and Sasha, that they are hiding in the closet, but Jesus moved them anticipating this. In the closet instead is alcohol which Simon takes thinking it’s a nice gesture.

Carl and Enid make it to the Hilltop and Carl sees the trucks, he wants to hop in and go back to the Saviors compound. Carl and Enid kiss, Enid doesn’t want him to go but can’t make him stay.

Gregory flips out at Jesus saying he told him to hide them in the hallway closet and Jesus says no you said a closet. Gregory wanted to know what would happen if they went in his bedroom and found them. Maggie said they would kill him before anyone else. Jesus tells Gregory that this is their home or he will tell everyone about their deal with the Saviors and he will lose his plausible deniability and won’t be leader anymore. Gregory tries to say he made progress and the Saviors are reasonable but Maggie punches him in the face and notices that Glenn’s watch was in his pocket.

Jesus talks about why Gregory is still in power at the Hilltop but they will talk later because he thinks he knows who could lead. Sasha asks Jesus if he can find where Negan lives, but to keep it between the two of them. He says he can. Enid arrives and Maggie is happy to see she is there, Enid asks if Maggie is OK. She says she is not, but she will be.

Jesus hops into the back of Negan’s truck. He gets in takes a sip of some alcohol and throws it out. Carl says, “hey” letting Jesus know that he is there too.
