If you are a Potterhead just like me, you obviously (please read that it Snape’s voice, thank you) know that the release of the script for Cursed Child is not far away. The play has been running in London’s west end for previews, until the official opening on 30th of June. And to not disappoint the worldwide Potter fanbase they will release the script as a book. First the rehearsal edition and later this year the definitive version.

Because of this memorable moment, I will be doing a 5-week Cursed Child series in which I’ll run you through the story, cast and my hopes and predictions for this story. All for you to warm up for the release of Cursed Child on the 31st of July.

Because of J.K’s requests to #keepthesecrets we barely know any details, unless you’ve been to the play already or looked up spoilers. But here’s what they say it’s about:

It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.

What I read out of this is that Harry still struggles with his ‘fame’ even more than in his Hogwarts days. And because of this fame he constantly wants to prove himself, therefore probably doing and wanting too much what makes him being overworked.

Being named Albus Severus, after two of the greatest headmasters Hogwarts ever had sure has its downsides, even more, when your last name is Potter. Now I wonder, because of this, does that make Albus the Cursed Child? Or is there someone else involved and possible being cursed? And why isn’t this story revolving around James Sirius, Harry’s oldest son?

Something else is that this story begins with an 11-year-old Albus heading towards Hogwarts, can we then assume that this whole story takes plays in Hogwarts? At least we’ll hopefully see the sorting of Rose, Scorpius, and Albus. Will Rose and Albus follow the steps of their parents and get sorted into Gryffindor and Scorpius in Slytherin? Or will there be a plot twist? In the epilogue of The Deadly Hallows Albus confronts Harry with his fear of being sorted into Slytherin. So will this young boy’s fears come true, or has he nothing to worry about?

These banners are just too pretty! I love how they incorporated the first letter of the houses and turned them into the house animals! And look, there we have Rose Granger-Weasley!

As you can tell I have so many questions that I might one day just explode or ramble another million words, yet because I refuse to look up spoilers I still have no answers.

What do you think and hope that will happen, please let us know!
Or maybe you’ve already been to the shows (Lucky you, I’m jealous) then I’d like to hear what you thought about it!

Next week I’ll be back with a closer look at the lovely Potter family!
