Whoa mind blown you’re so right! At the time it felt like a cheeky response to the Fox cancellation and how now Mindy Lahiri (but really Mindy Kaling) could do exactly what she wanted with her show.
In hindsight it totally foreshadowed that the story would go back to being all about Mindy as a woman and less about Mindy as a girlfriend/part of a couple.
