The Leftovers are returning soon, and I’m not talking about Thanksgiving. I am not sure about everyone else but I enjoyed season 1. I didn’t read the book so I didn’t have any ideas going in, and thus I was able to enjoy it for what it was, which I felt was total craziness. Most of the season I couldn’t pinpoint what was happening, let alone formulate a logical explanation on the cause.

This brings me to season 2 after seeing roughly a 2 minute trailer, I can’t say that I have the same feeling as the original season. It appears that they are just reshuffling the deck with a new playing field and story lines. I must be very skeptical because I don’t find that as a good sign so
early in the run of a show. Does the book only cover what the  first season had? That question is more hypothetical then anything else I don’t really want to know.

My predictions for the season are 2 possible theories, I hope I am horribly off base on both.

Theory 1 lazy writing:
After moving from New York to Texas, it is revealed that somehow the vanishing people started from one side of the world. It slowly makes their way across the USA and time finally catches up to Miracle, Texas and the process starts all over again for our main group.

Theory 2
Miracle, Texas is no such thing. The town is a poor corrupt town that saw a chance to be opportunistic and profitable on a tragedy. The town really did lose some of it’s 900+ members, but all got together to agree to put up this front to better themselves by merchandise sales and more
inhabitants. The town can’t handle all the pressure and starts to implode again under it’s own weight of lies and things to crazy once again. More departures happen rattles the new inhabitants which causes additional friction, the group of crazy smoking mutes obviously hears about ‘Miracle, Texas’
and needs to make the trek to see for themselves and throws off the balance even more.

I’ll for sure be tuning in to see how off base I am on Sunday
October 10th!
