The seventh episode of series eight picks Doctor Who back up to the levels of the earlier episodes of the series which fell a bit last week.

We see The Doctor back in his famous space suit along with Clara and returning Country Woods. This time around I felt that Courtney brought  young and refreshing breaks throughout the episode. Her moments of childlike manner bounced off the tension very well. She was written far better here and it didn’t feel forced.

I really enjoyed the setting of this story which mostly took place in the future on the moon. However I wish we had more time with the spiders as they were hyped with promos but I did find it funny seeing how these space monster were killed by windex and a fourteen year old girl. This concept reminded me of the old 50s sci fi films. The whole moon is an egge idea was really sci fi which I got a nice kick out of.  Along with seeing how the astronauts were getting picked off one by one gave it a nice B horror feel to it as well. It remind me a bit of classic Who.

The ending was the really gem of this story seeing Clara deal with the choice of having to kill one life in order to save the life of billions was done very well. It remind me a lot of Matt Smith’s Doctor. I honestly didn’t know what she was going to do till she made the choice to save the moon. Once the moon hatches and we see what was living inside we get one of the best Doctor who speech on human history in recent years. I thought the ending fight between Clara and The Doctor was quite a surprise. I have a feeling that this ending will lead into the next few episodes!  We are only four away from the final!
