I went to my first convention a couple of weeks ago and decided to share it with all of you.
First getting there was scary, I was by myself and dressed up as 1950’s poodle-skirted Velma
This was the first costume I fabricated 100% from scratch. If you have never sewn a crinoline petticoat, I HIGHLY recommend it if your only alternative is beating your head against a stone wall.
I showed up and it was like Disney World on crack(especially with the USA teen baseball team staying at the hotel). Speaking of Disney, there were princesses EVERYWHERE, in homemade, commissioned and purchased outfits.
[Follow my adventure below]
Jasmine(this took her 3 weeks to do) and Belle(also handmade)
Anna(Commissioned from someone online) and Merida (This took her a while to finish)
Queen Else(Dress was purchased, then altered and everything else was fabricated)
Mini Anna (All purchased, but she was damn cute)
The Market Place was the hub of the Con, people were selling wares and blowing bubbles EVERYWHERE!
Hit Girl let down her guard enough to enjoy the bubbles.
And then all the Disney Princesses joined in.
Raphael(He was VERY protective of) Iron Man(100% HOME fabrication)
A very clever Tony Stark “If found, please return to Stark Tower. Yes, the big ugly building. – Capt Steve Rogers”
My favorite part may have been walking around and seeing the most random collection of characters (literally) hanging around a hotel lobby.
xoxo Nicole
Stay tuned for Day 2!!
